Wisla Krakow has announced that it will dissolve its eSports division at the end of July. The eponymous Krakow soccer club has been developing its activities in this area since October 2019, when it acquired the roster of Polish team adwokacik. Over the next three years, Wisla Krakow remained one of the most prominent teams in its region and was ranked in the top 50 of the world rankings.
The team was captained by Grzegorz «SZPERO» Dziamalek, who played a key role in the squad from its inception and only left in July 2022. As of July 15, when the Wisla Krakow management announced the project's closure, the team included coach Mariusz «Loord» Cybulski, Krzyżek «Goofy» Gorski and Kamil «Sobol» Sobolewski.
Over the past three years, Wisla Krakow has played at several regional LAN events and won the 2021 ESL Polish Championship Autumn Finals. In 2022, the team qualified for the IEM Katowice play-in stage, climbing to a record 24th place in the world rankings. However, by the end of June, she had fallen out of the top 50 and only managed to qualify for one offline event. As a result, by the end of June, SZPERO and two other players had left its roster. Loord now plans to continue his career in cybersport as a coach, while the other former Wisla Krakow members have not yet spoken out about their plans.
