What is a charm in CS2?

A charm is a cosmetic item in the form of a small toy. It can decorate any weapon by hanging it in a certain spot. These items can be attached to movable parts of a pistol or rifle, but not to the magazine. It's important to note that only one charm can be placed on a weapon.

Charms are similar to skins, but they have a fundamental difference: the former do not wear out, nor can they be used in trade-up contracts. It's also worth mentioning that charms have many more patterns: while skins can have up to 1,000 patterns, charms have 100,000.

Patterns determine the appearance of charms in CS2, affecting color changes of the entire item and its individual parts. The effect can also change: the item can either shine more or become more matte.

These items are available from special charm capsules. To get a chance to pick charms in CS2, players must shell out and spend 3 credits (new in-game currency). To get such currency, one must purchase an "Arsenal Pass" costing $14 on official servers. Using it, you can get 1 random weapon charm from the collection you're interested in.

By the way, you can buy and upgrade up to 5 Arsenal Passes at once.

Charms can be removed from weapons using a special tool – the Detacher. Removing and replacing will cost $1 (about 100 rubles). Only the detacher allows you to remove the accessory from one weapon and hang it on another.

Detachers are sold in a set: there are 3 units of this tool in it. If you get a charm through the Arsenal Pass, you will get a set of detachers for accessories for free.

Currently, CS2 features 2 collections of charms – Missing Link Charms, which includes miniature versions of agents, and Small Arms Charms – miniatures of weapons.

The significance of charms in CS2

At first glance, these accessories may seem like a minor addition, but in fact, players have long awaited such items. Furthermore, developers of many other games have introduced charms into the gameplay: for example, fans of Rainbow Six Siege and Valorant have been using this feature for several years now.

With charms, CS2 players can emphasize their individuality, make the weapons in their arsenal more colorful and interesting. And in general, such additions bring colors to the game.
