Maincast Studios co-owner Vitaly «v1lat» Volochai has criticized the organizers of the Flashpoint league. In his opinion, the organizers of this tournament exaggerate their organizing abilities while criticizing other companies such as ESL and Starladder without basis. Volochai believes that Flashpoint is highly overrated – in fact the competition has proven uninteresting for major broadcasters such as Maincast or WePlay, despite the fact that there are significant CIS teams on the grid. So while Flashpoint has huge budgets right now, its future prospects are dim. There is little coverage of the tournament in languages other than English, and statements by executives online seem defiant.
For his part, Duncan «Thorin» Shields, Flashpoint's creative director, said the tournament has a good chance of dominating and surpassing ESL in popularity if the players include at least four of the world's top players. In doing so, he rebuked the representatives at ESL for being incompetent, and not surprisingly, this statement seemed too harsh to many.
The second season of Flashpoint is scheduled to end on December 6. The main feature of the league is that it was founded by a few cybersports organizations that purchased a permanent slot on the roster by contributing a certain amount to the tournament.
