Tournament organizer DreamHack talked about the new schedule of summer games. Earlier, the competition for different regions was scheduled to take place in Valencia, Montreal and Hyderabad. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided to move all events to an online format.
The competition will be broadcast from the Monster Energy DreamHack studio located in Stockholm, and all participants will join the matches online from their homes. For each region, the tournament will be divided into two parts. For Europe and North America the prize pool will be $100,000 each, and for Asia and Oceania – $50,000 each.
The lists of invited teams have not been announced yet. It is known that in each region the competition will be held in two stages. In the European region, four teams will be selected from the open qualifying results to meet four invited entrants and compete in the first round for two spots in the next round and a $10,000 prize. Six teams will advance directly to the second round. Tournaments in other regions will be held in a similar format.
It is expected that the dates of the open qualification will be known in the next two weeks. DreamHack also said that the second stage of the European tournament will be held in early July, and the second stage of the North American tournament – after the break, in mid-August.
