Tournament operators discuss changes to the calendar

Currently, the major tournament operators of CS:GO matches and the CSPPA, an organization uniting professional players, are discussing the possibility of changing the schedule of tournaments this year. It usually included the summer and winter offseason, when there was a break in the pro scene games. This year, the off-season was scheduled to begin July 15 and end August 15. However, the coronavirus pandemic and the moving of many matches online has made a major change in plans. It is likely that this time «vacation» will start earlier than usual and will take the whole month of July.

As a result, the shift in the off-season will affect the dates of ESL One: Cologne – . Previously, the tournament was scheduled to take place on July 6-12. ESL is currently considering moving the event to August and holding it in the studio, as mass events in Germany will still be limited during this period.

The CSPPA has also proposed to change the dates of the winter off-season as well. It will probably not last until Jan. 7, as it has in the past, but until Jan. 17. The Professional Players Organization explains that this was done to accommodate players celebrating Orthodox Christmas. ESL, DreamHack, and StarLadder have already agreed to such an amendment.
