Cloud9's assistant coach spoke about the reasons for the team's failures

Joshua «m1cks» Meeks, formerly an assistant coach at Cloud9, was recently interviewed by HLTV about his role on the team and the reasons for its decline. Since 2018, m1cks has worked as an analyst, and then assistant coach, with several teams including Bravado, Rogue, and eUnited. In 2019, when Cloud9 acquired the ATK lineup, m1cks also moved in. The collaboration continued even after Cloud9's management decided to change the team, until the organization dissolved the CS: GO division without making any significant progress.

In Cloud9, Meeks was engaged in analyzing the game of opponents and forming the structure of the team, which will allow to successfully respond to the actions of the opponent. He prepared the team for individual matches and the competition as a whole, contributing to making it function as a cohesive unit. Meeks also noted that one of the problems the team had faced recently was a lot of psychological pressure: instead of playing to win, the members were afraid of losing and based their actions on the fear of losing, which eventually turned against them. This is the reason why Cloud9 has repeatedly started successfully and then failed in the final matches.

In the future, m1cks expects to take the position of assistant coach in one of the North American teams, and is considering both Counter Strike and Valorant. However, he is confident that even if he moves to Valorant for a while, he will still eventually return to CS: GO.
