It was announced mid-week that PGL would be the organizer of the next major. The tournament will be held in Stockholm in late October/early November. Ericsson Globe Stadium, where the competition is planned to take place, has been used for major cybersport events before: in 2014 it hosted matches of the DreamHack Invitational, and in 2018 – DreamHack Masters Stockholm.
The organizers stressed that the tournament will only take place if it is possible to meet all security requirements by the fall. However, they expect that by then it will be possible to hold the competition in front of an audience – Ericsson Globe can accommodate up to 16 thousand spectators. The tournament will be the first CS: GO major to be broadcast in 4K resolution. In addition, there are plans to utilize augmented reality elements in the broadcast.
Silvu Stroye, CEO of PGL, characterized the upcoming plans as follows: «We've grown as we've watched the role of CS: GO grow and at the same time we've grown as a company. We have many memories of different cyber sports shows and we owe a debt of gratitude to this game – both as players and as an organization. Our goal – to honor this game, and we will work hard to make that a reality».
