On April 14, the final list of invited participants of the DreamHack Masters Spring Europe tournament was determined. It was previously announced that twelve clubs from different countries will qualify for the tournament, including mousesports, Astalis and fnatic, who have recently taken the lead in European eSports. Now it has become known that the remaining two slots will be taken by HLTV top leaders Natus Vincere and Danish team Heroic, which occupies the twenty-fifth place in the ranking.
Two more slots will be distributed based on the results of qualification matches, which will be held on April 16-17. The European leg of the DreamHack Masters tournament itself will take place in May and June. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Jönköping, Sweden, but like many 2020 cybersport competitions, it was moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic. The format of the competition has also changed: the teams have been divided into divisions on a regional basis.
In parallel with the European tournament, matches will also be held in North America, Asia and Oceania. The European and American teams will play a group tournament followed by a playoff, while the other two divisions will play straight elimination due to the smaller number of teams. The winners of the regional tournaments will compete for the grand prize in the grand finals.
