The final lineup of teams that will participate in the FLASHPOINT Season 1 league has been revealed. The playoffs are scheduled for mid-April, with the finals to be held on April 18 and 19. The matches will be held in Los Angeles with no spectators present. This decision was made because of the risk of coronavirus – the number of cases has recently increased in the US as well. Originally the final was planned to be held in Stockholm, but then it was decided to move it to Los Angeles.
The place of the German team BIG, which was expected to be among the participants earlier, was taken by the Danes Copenhagen Flames. A total of twelve teams from Denmark, Brazil, USA, Sweden, Canada, China and the European Union will compete in the tournament. (These include Cloud9, Team Dignitas, MAD Lions and others). The prize pool will be $1 million.
Despite the lack of spectators at the tournament, FLASHPOINT organizers are making an extra effort to make the competition more entertaining for those who will be watching online. The league has hired a former wrestling writer who will provide training for the participants. He is expected to train them to connect with the audience, showcase their personalities more vividly, and help draw fans' attention to the personality and history of specific players. This is the first time a cyber sports league has hired a screenwriter, and it remains to be seen what impression the new approach will make on fans. However, in any case, the competition promises to be interesting.
