The update for CS2, which was released on May 24, brought several major changes at once. The most talked about of these was the ability to rent skins, but there are other important innovations, such as adjustments to the game's economy. Let's find out what skin rental is, how it works, and what else deserves attention in this update.
What is skin rent?
One of the most notable new features is skin rent. The player now has two options when opening a briefcase: get one random item as before, or get the entire contents of the briefcase, except gloves and knives, for a week. Skins will disappear from your inventory after this time period. The briefcase will also be considered spent. The following restrictions apply to rented items:
You cannot put stickers on or change the weapon tag.
All skins are issued without a kill counter.
Skins cannot be traded or sold.
Right now, weekly skin rentals are only available for the case «Kilowatt». You can use this option as many times as you like, but you will need to buy the case and the key for it again.
To rent skins in CS2, you will need to select the option «Open for Rent» (Open for Rent) when opening the case. This option can come in handy for those who want to try skins in the game before buying them, or play a few matches with rare and expensive items without spending a large sum on them.
Gameplay updates
In addition, significant changes have been added for «molotov cocktails» and incendiary grenades. They have affected both visuals and gameplay:
The flames from «molotov» and grenades have become different colors, and their height decreases over time.
The display of explosion and flames has been improved.
Flames from «molotov» cover a smaller area and burn for less time.
«Molotov» became cheaper - $500 instead of $600.
Several other parameters have changed: M4A4 now costs $100 cheaper, and terrorists receive $200 less than before if the bomb was planted but defused.
Other changes
The developers have improved the interface for viewing demos, adding indicators to the scale for quick transition to the moments of killing the enemy or death of the player. There was also an option to view only those events. In addition, several bugs in the interface of the purchasing menu, viewing statistics, and inspecting items in the Warehouse have been fixed.
The update also includes another batch of improvements and tweaks on four maps, namely Vertigo, Baggage, Office, and Mirage. The biggest change is on Vertigo, where the location of objects on point A has been changed.
Interestingly, some skins were affected by changes that were not mentioned in the patch notes: now some variants of Doppler, Gamma Doppler and Marble Fade patterns look less attractive, according to some players. As a result, these skins have lost a bit of value.
