On November 28, CS2 released an update featuring content dedicated to the Shanghai Major. As usual, it includes exclusive stickers and a viewer pass that grants access to new content. Here is an overview of what's included in the update.
Shanghai Major 2024 Stickers
Regarding stickers, Valve continues its usual pattern by adding several capsules dedicated to participants of different stages of the tournament. Stickers are available in various qualities – each logo and autograph can be paper, glossy, metallic, holographic, and gold (we recently wrote about the differences between sticker coatings). An interesting addition to the design of holographic stickers: the patterns on them consist not of abstract geometric ornaments, as usual, but of miniature copies of the team's logo.
For example, the stickers of teams from the Legends stage of the Shanghai Major 2024 will look as follows. Among the teams that have directly entered this stage of the tournament are NAVI, G2, Team Spirit, and Faze Clan.
Under the symbol of each team is depicted a logo of the manager with a curving eastern dragon in flames and an angular font, stylistically similar to hieroglyphs.
Some teams decided to add creativity to the design of autograph stickers. For example, all participants of FURIA decided to make signatures in the style of Chinese characters, so they look quite unusual compared to the team's previous autographs. AleksiB and iM from Natus Vincere also added hieroglyphs that visually resemble the letters of their nicknames. JL even added a cute drawing similar to an emoji to his sticker, and 910 – a heart pierced by an arrow.
Check out the content of the autograph stickers – you might find other stickers among the many participants that could be the basis for interesting crafts.
Viewer Pass
As for the player pass, it is no different from previous majors. Players who buy the pass can participate in the Pick'Em challenge. For correct predictions, they receive souvenir tokens, which can then be exchanged for unique souvenir containers.
There are two types of viewer passes: a regular one (costing $10) and a more expensive one ($18), which includes three souvenir tokens available immediately.
Note that the update is not limited to content related to the major. Briefly, it's worth mentioning other innovations. In particular, the rental functionality, which was added about six months ago, now applies to all active cases. Additionally, the display of annotations has been improved and the maps Basalt and Train have been revised. There is also a new music kit, AyHey by Perfect World.
