In early May, Polish director Filip Syczynski revealed that he was going to make a movie about the formation of a cybersports team. The story will be based on the history of the Polish team Golden Five, whose members successfully played at international tournaments in 2006-2009.
The movie, working title «Ghost», will tell about the fate of a boy named Tomek, who gets acquainted with other players and goes from an amateur hobby of computer games to victories on the international CS:GO scene. The director says that although the movie is based on the real story of the Golden Five's formation, it will not be in the full sense of the word biographical.
Filip Syczynski says that he himself was very impressed by the news of the Golden Five's first victories. Thanks to the luck and skill of a few people, Poland has appeared on the map of cybersports. A lot of people started treating him differently and young players got more motivation to develop. The director mentioned that he is in contact with Janusz Kubski, the father of one of the Golden Five players. It is likely that some scenes will faithfully reproduce episodes from the history of the team and the lives of its members.
Filip Syczynski's movie is expected to be released in 2021.
