In the update, which was named The Real MVP, the developers added several important elements. The big news was the addition of community-created maps for the first time since the transition to the new engine. There are five cards in the game at once, which are available in different game modes. This is the first update of its kind since the game's transition to the new engine.
Here's what we know about these maps:
Thera: This map takes place on the volcanic island of Santorini in Greece. Its authors are FMPone and MF_Kitten. The former was previously involved in work on Cache. It can be played in competitive and casual mode, as well as in «fight to the death mode».
Mills: The setting of this map depicts a small village in the Netherlands. It is authored by catfood, author of Tuscan and Shipped cards. Like the previous one, the map is available in three main modes.
Memento: This map, created by four community members (MadsenFK, ynel, TwiN and g3om) depicts a picturesque Italian lake shoreline and is only available in «Partner mode».
Assembly: This map for «Teammates» mode has a much more intimate setting, and the match will take place in closed spaces, as the venue is a hangar. The map was developed by four community members – Almaas, Quoting, Thomas and Huvaligen.
Pool Day: This classic map for «Arms Race mode» may be memorable for those who played Counter Strike 1.6. The original version of the map was created by Squall, and then Leplubodespalin reworked it, adapting it to the updated version of the game. In perfect keeping with the name, one of the most memorable elements of the map is the pool.
In addition to the release of the community maps, there are other changes. The display of video settings has been improved, the MVP panels have changed, and to display map stats in competitive matchmaking it is now enough to play two matches on the map instead of ten. On Nuke, Vertigo and Anubis, bugs related to explosives getting stuck and object boundaries were fixed.
But the hopes of players for the release of the new Operation are not being realized yet: although many expected a more impressive amount of new content to be released in honor of Counter-Strike's 25th anniversary, which falls on June 19, players can only wait for news. It is not excluded that a new case may appear soon: back in late 2023, players found in the game files a model of a knife with two blades, which is not used anywhere yet. In addition, the content of the software code suggests that there will be new weapon customization options.
