British cyber athlete William «mezii» Merryman in a recent interview with HLTV talked about his experience playing CS:GO professionally in England, going international and his plans for the future. The young player performed well in 2019-2020, playing for British teams London and Vexed and achieving a consistent 1.17 rating. He has now taken the next step in his career by moving to Gamers Legion to start playing internationally.
The player said that one of the biggest differences between the British and international teams he has noticed – is the right attitude. England players often find it difficult to stay focused when things don't go according to plan, while top cyber athletes stay positive and fight to win in all situations. At the same time, since the teams meizii has played on in the past have largely been modeled after European teams, the style of play in Gamers Legion is not much different from what he is used to.
The Vexed team broke up a few months ago largely due to players not being able to practice enough, focusing a lot on personal issues. Currently, mezii plans to make cyber sports his main occupation after completing his university studies in May. The main goal GamersLegion – has now is to get into the top 30 and participate in high-level online tournaments.
Several other notable players have recently left the British teams, including Owen «smooya» Butterfield, Mateusz «mantuu» Wilczewski and Thomas «Thomas» Utting.
