On November 14th, the official CS2 Twitter account posted "All aboard!" marking the release of another major update packed with good news for players. The updates have touched on the current map roster and various gameplay modes.
Return of Train
Perhaps the most talked-about news is the return of the classic map Train, which has undergone significant redesign. It seems Valve has listened to player feedback accumulated over the map's lifetime and reworked Train to improve balance and make gameplay more interesting. Now, both teams can implement more varied tactics; however, only practice will tell how successful the changes are. The map may receive more minor tweaks in the near future.
Major updates have also affected some other maps. For example, Overpass has had a number of visual problems fixed, including graphic bugs and unsatisfactory textures. Several water areas, which had been a source of bugs, were removed. Since these textures were not used on other maps, they were deleted not only from the specific map but also from the game, creating problems for Workshop maps where they were present. Community members hope these textures will be returned in future bug fixes.
The list of maps for competitive mode has changed: Train and Basalt were added, while Thera and Mills were removed. In Wingman mode, players can now compete on the maps Palais and Whistle instead of Assembly and Memento.
Grenade Interface
Hints have been added to the grenade throwing interface, helping players see how the throwable will travel. The preview shows where the grenade will land with a normal throw or a jump throw, significantly simplifying training.
Furthermore, on Train, comments have been added for typical grenade throwing positions. To use this feature, select the Load Map Guide option on the left side of the screen before choosing the map. After loading, the player will find themselves alone on the map with an unlimited supply of grenades. They can practice throws, track directions with a special aiming mode, and read comments on key positions.
Currently, this functionality is only available on Train, but if players like it, similar features may appear on other maps.
There are other notable updates affecting gameplay. A new setting has been added that allows players to adjust radar transparency, letting them choose the most comfortable variant for themselves.
Additionally, the game introduced a "damage prediction" setting, which, according to developers, will make the effects of shots more understandable for players. If this option is enabled, animations for regular hits or headshots start playing on the player's side before the server confirms the hit.
The major update definitely lived up to players' expectations. To make your time in the game even more enjoyable, don't forget to replenish your inventory with skins from Lis-Skins.com!
