The Astralis released the news that Christian «k0nfig» Wieneke will miss the next few matches as he suffered a fractured ankle and will need some time for rest and treatment. It remains unknown for how long the twenty-five-year-old cyber athlete will not be able to appear at tournaments, but it is already clear that he will be forced to miss the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR, which takes place in early October.
His place in the team will be temporarily taken by Mikkel «MistR» Thomsen from Astralis Talent. This could significantly reduce the likelihood of Astralis making it to the IEM Rio Major, as Astralis' opponents will include teams such as FaZe, G2, NIP and Cloud9.
Although k0nfig has been repeatedly criticized for unstable results, he has been a notable contributor to many of Astralis' successful performances in 2022. In particular, the team managed to reach the semifinals at IEM Cologne, as well as to be among the top eight at ESL Pro League Season 15 and at IEM Katowice. It's not the first time he's missed matches due to injury either: in the second half of 2021, when he was still playing for Complexity, he was sidelined for two months due to a wrist injury.
