come.

What year CS:GO was released

.

The predecessor of CS:GO was a game called Counter-Strike 1.6. This version was originally created as one of the modifications to Half-Life, but Valve soon noticed its popularity and bought the rights to this mod. Finalizing it with input from the original creators, Valve released it as a standalone game in 2000. This version was originally known simply as Counter-Strike, but is now more commonly referred to as CS 1.6 by the number of the last significant update that was released for it.

However, until the release of CS:GO, had to wait for more than a decade. It wasn't until 2011 that the development of the next version was announced, and it was released in August 2012. Linux users had to wait a little longer: in the version for this type of operating system CS:GO appeared in 2014.

As a basis, the developers, quite naturally, took the gameplay, which was worked out in version 1.6 and loved by players. Cybersports players were involved in the testing, which allowed for maximum consideration of the players' needs. In addition, the visual component of the game has been significantly improved, as well as reworked some elements of gameplay, for example, added new items.

Beta test of CS:GO was held from December 2011 to August 2012, and August 22, 2012 came out CS:GO in its full version. Thus, this date can be considered the official «birthday» of the game.

When Cases in CS:GO

After ks go was released in 2012, developers continued to look for new ways to make the game even more interesting and attract more participants. One such innovation was the addition of cases – containers that allow you to get a random weapon from a specific set. The first of them appeared with an add-on called Arms Deal, and it dropped 9 kinds of skins, not counting knives.

The ability to change the appearance of weapons was very much appreciated by the players. Interestingly, the developers failed to guess the initial preferences of the public at first. They assumed that realistic skins, such as those with different variations of protective and camouflage coloring, would be more popular. However, in practice the situation turned out to be quite the opposite: players favored skins with bright and unusual designs regardless of how believable they looked. After the first few cases, Valve took this into account, and now the skins with the highest rarity – are usually the most colorful, with unusual and unconventional designs. Here's when came out with the 2013 CS:GO Weapon Cases :

  • CS:GO Weapon Case and eSports 2013 Case – August 2013;

  • Operation Bravo Case – September 2013;

  • CS:GO Weapon Case 2 – November 2013;

  • eSports 2013 Winter Case and Winter Offensive Weapon Case – December 2013;

In the following years, the cases started coming out earlier, but they still continue to appear regularly. They often include skins that have been created by the community and have garnered a large number of votes in the workshop. By now there are 39 weapon cases in the game, as well as sticker capsules.

Some cases that appeared in the early years after how CS:GO came out, still remain not only popular but also profitable. This applies, for example, to the already mentioned Winter Offensive Weapon Case. It is from it that if you are lucky enough to get the M4A4 Asiimov and AWP Redline – two pretty famous skins that are in high demand.

Another notable case – Gamma Case that came out in 2016. It can be used to make knives with different types of Doppler effects, which belong to some of the most expensive items on the market. In addition, from it falls M4A4 Desolate Space – popular skin with the image of a skeleton of an astronaut in a spacesuit.

When operations appeared in CS:GO

Another type of additional content that appeared in the game shortly after released ks go, was called operations. This is the name given to limited-time in-game events that can be accessed by purchasing a battle pass. By participating in events and completing quests, players can obtain cases and a variety of cosmetic items. The duration of the operation is usually up to six months to ensure that all players have time to enjoy the content.

The first operation was released in April 2013 and was called «Payback» (Payback). Her content included seven community maps and related case studies. When purchasing a pass, the player received a bronze coin, which they could then improve by completing quests. Subsequent operations were arranged in a similar manner. Missions have been combined into campaigns with quest branches of varying difficulty. By completing them, players obtain weapons from the collections associated with the various maps, and earn the stars needed to upgrade coins. Those who play regularly often manage to beat back the cost of accessing an operation by selling the skins associated with it.

A total of eleven operations have been released so far in ks go. The latest one called «Predatory Waters» ended back in February 2019, so players are expecting the next one to be announced soon.

How Many People Play CS:GO

Since its release, Counter Strike: Global Offensive has repeatedly broken records for the number of concurrent players. This indicator fluctuates from time to time, but in general it is continuously increasing. Another record was taken in mid-March, when it was recorded that 1.4 million people were present in the game at the same time. Most players are based in the US and Brazil, followed by Germany, the UK and Russia. As a result, CSÖGO became one of only four games in the world to break the 1 million barrier, along with PUBG, Lost Ark, and Dota 2.

Since xs go came out, it has become one of the games that defined what a first-person shooter should be. It remains one of the most popular cyber sports disciplines, with large-scale competitions every year, attracting spectators from all over the world. At the same time, the game remains so that those who play not for results, but for recreation and entertainment, also feel comfortable. The developers' attention to the needs of the community and constant work on fixing technical problems have undoubtedly been the main factors that have ensured a consistently high online.

When will the CS:GO update be released

In recent years, one of the main topics of discussion related to the game has been the prospects for an engine update. Throughout the game's existence, the developers regularly release updates, fixing bugs, refining maps and improving technical aspects of the game. Each of the updates includes many small improvements, not always noticeable at first glance, but significant for those who have been playing for a long time, especially at the professional level.

However,  considering that ks go was released in 2012, its graphics may seem outdated, and the capabilities of modern computers the game does not fully utilize. That's why for several years there were rumors about the transition to Source 2 – an updated version of the engine used in the game.

In the spring of 2023, these expectations finally came to fruition: Valve released a version of the game called Counter-Strike 2 with improved graphics and a number of technical additions. The most notable changes are the following:

  • Smoke interacts with bullets and grenades, which can disperse it for a moment, as well as filling space more realistically and reacting to lighting.

  • The new architecture allows players to forget about tikreit settings, as the game now responds instantly to any keystrokes.

  • Some maps have been thoroughly reworked and some have been recreated from scratch with new textures, lighting and rendering techniques.

  • Tools for creating workshop content, such as custom maps and skins, have been simplified and made more accessible.

  • The interface for buying weapons during a match has been redesigned.

Thus, despite the fact that ks go was released in 2012, the developers are striving to ensure that it meets the needs of modern players, but at the same time remained faithful to the traditions and the spirit of the game, which was at the beginning of its existence. Right now, the Counter-Strike 2 version is in closed beta testing mode, although Valve periodically sends out new invitations. The new version of CS:GO is expected to be released in the summer, but the exact date of this event is unknown.
