Chinese company Weibo may be unveiling its CS:GO roaster in the near future. This is reported by the CSGO2ASIA news portal. Weibo currently owns one of the most popular sites inside China, which for users from that country largely replaces Facebook and Twitter. By the end of 2019, it had about 497 million active users.
CS:GO was released in China on publisher Perfect World's platform in 2017, and the active player base has grown steadily since then. Although Counter Strike: Global Offensive is behind other games in terms of popularity in Asian countries, Weibo appears to expect the number of players to continue to increase. Earlier this month, the company announced that it will host a CS:GO tournament called Weibo Cup 2020. The competition, with sixteen invited teams vying for victory, is scheduled to conclude on May 24. This is one of the biggest eSports events in Asia in recent times.
CSGO2ASIA reports that the new team will probably be based in Shanghai. It will include several players of Chinese descent, formerly of EHOME and Invictus Gaming, as well as Russian eSports player Egor «killmatic» Storozhok and Indonesian player Jason «forsaken» Susanto.
