Danish cybersports player Finn «karrigan» Andersen last month announced his return to FaZe after leaving the team in 2018 to play for mousesports for nearly two years. Fans of the Danish team expect his participation to open up new opportunities for the team – recently the team has clearly lacked an experienced in-game leader. On Monday, the 30-year-old gave an interview to HLTV, talking about why he decided to play for FaZe again after such a long break.
He mentioned that mousesports has faced some problems in recent months. Since the start of Pandemic, the team has been performing erratically and was forced to send several players to the reserves after a failed performance at ESL One Cologne. As a result karrigan was forced to take more responsibility than usual. This led to burnout, and he was eventually forced to take a break to consider his future plans.
Thus, in January Andersen had to decide whether he wanted to continue working with mousesports. He noted that, in fact, he was choosing between two different approaches to team building: while mousesports prefers to acquire young players and then invest in their development, FaZe is ready to pay for cooperation with more experienced cyber athletes. As a result, the second option seemed more preferable for karrigan – . Besides, in FaZe he will have to take a free role rather than replace another in-game leader.
Karrigan hopes that the team will be able to hold a bootcamp soon, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, these plans, as well as the prospects of further participation in competitions, remain uncertain for the time being.
