What updates to expect from Counter-Strike 2

27 March 2023, 10:44

After Valve announced the imminent release of an updated version of CS:GO, some players have already managed to gain access to beta testing. Among them were data miners, ready to thoroughly examine the game's files in search of more information. Despite the fact that it's been less than a week, they've already managed to find quite a bit of interesting information, many of which will delight players.

What updates to expect from Counter-Strike 2

New items and skins

First of all, two new knives may appear in the game – Twinblade with a split blade and curved Kukri. These are the models that were found in the beta files. The double-blade knife has an unusual appearance and has a good chance of gaining high popularity. The design of the kukri is based on the shape of traditional Nepali weapons.

What updates to expect from Counter-Strike 2 2

In addition, new items may appear in Danger Zone – mode «battle royal». Dataminers have discovered a new kind of grenade that will trigger if an enemy snags a stretch grenade. In addition, the game files mention another type of weapon – «pipe», that is «pipe», although it is unclear whether this may turn out to be – a melee item or another type of explosive device. Finally, the Counter-Strike 2 files also mention a type of trap such as a bear trap.

However, not all dataminers are optimistic about these findings: some point out that these items may have been added to the game files a long time ago, and their discovery does not mean that they will appear in Danger Zone immediately after the release of CS2. It's not possible to test this in practice yet, as the limited testing version doesn't have all game modes. In addition to DeathZone, other formats may be affected by the update. In particular, Arms Race and Demolition may increase the maximum number of players.

Anti-chit improvement and new operation

The anti-chit system may also receive an update. Judging by the text of messages that may be displayed during a game, a system called VAC Live will be able to stop a match when a cheater is detected. If such a solution is implemented, it may well expect a positive evaluation from the community.

It is highly probable that Valve will launch a new operation at the same time as Counter-Strike 2 is released to the public . It's been over a year since the last one, and some information has been found in the game's files indicating this possibility. In particular, three skin collections are mentioned, as well as other types of cosmetic items. However, there have been no official statements from Valve about the new operation yet.

It should be taken into account that not always the information found in the game files is up-to-date: they may contain traces of ideas that the developers eventually abandoned, especially if it is a test version. Only time will tell which of the dataminer's predictions will eventually turn out to be correct – . Fortunately, the wait for Counter Strike 2 to be released to the public is not that long.
