In addition to updates to maps, gameplay and new chips in game modes, a significant part of the players are interested in how knives look like in CS 2, how much better or worse they have become than in CS:GO.
Realism and shadow play
It is clear that the old Counter Strike for 10 years is quite tiresome to some kaesera, and they want something new and unusual. Valve's graphics certainly didn't falter. The knives now look really cool thanks to the new lighting and the play of light and shadow. If you look closely at the blade, you can see its texture on some models. In general, knives in CS 2 look more realistic than ever in Counter Strike, and all this is achieved with the help of the Surls 2 engine.
But, of course, everything is not limited to praise, there are also dissatisfied voices. Among them, the opinion of Ceh9 (former Navi player Arseniy Trinozhenko) stands out, who is very critical:
New graphics, considering them childish and too bright.
New knives and skins, calling them flat.
In turn, we hope that in this post you will look at the knife models yourself and form your own opinion on them.
The coolest colorsOf
all the knife colorings that we have seen, the most interesting looking red and emerald shades.
Not only do they just have a great glow in the sun, but they have the greatest gradient and number of colors in the color transition from dark to light.
Especially noticeable on Doppler on Bowie
'
s knife.
Look closely at how the ruby hue at the edge of the blade transitions quite smoothly into an orangey-blaze closer to the base. And the sun hitting the blade, gives the feeling as if the knife is burning in the fire or consists of fire.Of course, on such knives in CS 2 you can not childishly stick and sleep through the attack of the opponent. We also had a question regarding whether the glow from the blade would be too strong to blind the player and interfere with them while rolling. Basically, when CS GO was first released, it also had a lot of «bugs», which were eventually fixed by Valve. We think Valve will solve the problem in a similar fashion this time around.
As for the emerald, it looks gorgeous on the Gamma Doppler kerambit. When you look at it, it seems as if you are holding not a knife, but an animated stone: it is not perfect, with dark spots, and so it should be, because everything alive is not perfect.
«A
spoonful of tar» in knives in CS 2
The real disappointment in
the
new Counter Strike can be confidently called the skin «Waves» for the navahi. This type of knife is not popular in the game, so, apparently, the developers decided not to bother with the transfer of the skin from CS:GO. And so not to bother that the skin became even worse than it was.If any of you remember, «Waves» in the former Contra beautifully and, most importantly, with the effect of volume went to black from dark blue color, on the way passing through greenish and silver shades. So, from this transition there is almost nothing left: dark blue goes into green, where you can barely guess the outlines of a silver spot (barely guessed), and then again goes into the blue with black, ie a complete transition to black is no longer there. What else is annoying: the knife in CS 2 on the background of the map looks like a foreign body, unknown how it appeared in the middle of the magnificent buildings in oriental style.
And if you look at this skin from another angle, you can see a band of dark blue, then black and then blue again near the handle. A complete failure, in our opinion. The only hope left is for the community, for those players who love nawahi and convince Valve to fix it.
Gradient and Marble Gradient Folding KnifeThe
new Counter Strike has 2 colorings on knives that we particularly liked.
The first one is the gradient folding knife. It has a uniquely stunning transition from dark blue to golden orange through red and pink. The knife in CS 2 has a special charm added by the smooth color change from the blade to the top. For example, notice that the area of red (the middle of the knife) near the blade is predominantly a dark red hue, which changes to pink as you approach the opposite side.
This is perhaps one of the best-looking knives in the new Counter Strike with the exception of the Doppler, which we think is out of competition.
The second is a folding knife with a marble gradient. In it, our attention was most attracted to the part of the skin where green is adjacent to yellow. Look at how unusual the texture is made, with the dark spots giving that very marbled gradient. This knife, of course, is more of a fan, absolutely everyone will not like it, but it made our list for its cool texture.
Another great kerambit
This knife in CS 2 is also from the series «Waves», but only in golden color. It stands out among the others with its eye-catching pattern that spreads from the hilt to the very edge of the intricately curved blade, resembling a tiger's claw. The pattern is oriental in style, and it is the first thing that catches your eye when looking at the kerambit.
The second feature of the knife is not so noticeable, but it is worth a closer look. Look just below the pattern. See the thin tapered stiletto? It gives the impression that you have not one knife in your hands, but two. A dual force that destroys the enemy and leaves him in awe. Yes, it will be a pleasure to put a stray opponent on such a kerambit while rolling. But do not look at the beauty of the blade, or, like a chicken on a spit, will put you.
Stremnya butterfly
Like the navaha, the knife in CS 2 butterfly was a clear failure, which Valv frankly worked on after sleeves. Just look at these «Waves» green. They look like children's plasticine. And that's it. There are no glowing shimmers of color here, no gradient, no multiple colors on the blade. It's just boring green. We didn't understand at all when we saw this no idea who at Valve even thought of including such a horrible unfinished skin in the game. Okay if it was a coloring on some unpopular knife model like the Navaji, but the butterfly....
The second incomprehensible butterfly skin resembles a stormy sea wave, but only when you know that it is Doppler coloring. We honestly thought it was some kind of exotic wriggling snake with blue-green stripes at first. Looking closer, we saw a little-understood ornamentation on the green color that didn't evoke the same emotion and wow effect as the golden kerambit we described a chapter above. Anyway, another ugly knife in CS 2.
Criticism of new knives
We briefly wrote at the very beginning of the post that there are kaesers who are not satisfied with the change in the appearance of knives and criticize Valve for innovations. Expresser of the general opinion, in fact, is a former Navi player - Senya (Arseniy Trinozhenko).
He said that the new Counter Strike omultiplied, became more similar to Valorant and from the category of men's games went to children's shooters. Also, Senya noticed that the game engine made the colors much brighter, but at the same time the knife skins lost in sharpness. Simply put, now the models of knives in CS 2
are
not as crisp as they were in the former Counter Strike.Additional reasons for dissatisfaction are:
Reducing the number of colors in the coloring pattern.
Lack of smooth transitions between colors in some knife skins.
Loss of volumetric image in favor of brightness.
New models of knives in CS 2
The day after the launch of the beta test of the new Counter Strike in the game files were found 3D models of two new types of knives. The caser community is more interested in the so-called Twinblade, a knife whose blade is split in the middle into two. This type of knife is not universally used, but you can have it made by craftsmen who will make it by hand if you wish. There is a fairly high probability that in the new Counter Strike it can be knocked out already in the first case.
The second knife is narrow at the base and widens towards the edge of the blade. It looks a lot like a small machete used to cut your way through jungle vegetation. As much interest as Twinblade has generated in the community, it has not. So it's safe to say that Valve has definitely created intrigue, we're waiting for the new knives in CS 2!
