Astralis announced that the organization has reached a mutual agreement with Christian «k0nfig» Wieneke to terminate his contract «for personal reasons». This decision was made shortly after the Danish team did not perform poorly at the European RMR tournament and failed to qualify for the majors for the first time since 2016.
Wieneke has missed the last few matches due to an ankle injury. The circumstances in which he received it remained unclear for a long time, although some publications mentioned that the player got into a conflict with a bar employee in Malta, where the team was after the performance at ESL Pro League Season 16.
Only three weeks after the incident, k0nfig published a post in which he shared the details of the incident. He mentioned that he got into a fight with a nightclub employee where he was going to spend time with his teammates. The employee behaved in an aggressive and abusive manner and then hit the player first, after which the latter got into a fight with him. Commenting on the incident, k0nfig expressed regrets that he responded with aggression instead of getting out of the situation.
k0nfig also shared details about his health condition: he spent all the last weeks in the hospital and underwent two surgeries for a compound fracture. However, he emphasized that he is not going to end his career despite the fact that he is currently going through the most difficult period in his life.
