Nikolai «Hunden» Petersen issued a press release Wednesday saying he has no plans to renew his contract with Heroic, where he served as coach. He mentioned that he had been in talks with team management over the past few months, but ultimately decided that he wanted to start a new chapter in his career. He is probably already less involved in the team now: in July he did not travel with the players to Germany for IEM Cologne, although the reasons for this remain unknown. His place for the duration of the championship was taken by Troels «robl» Coble, the team's mental health and productivity coach.
In addition, HUNDEN was recently accused of sharing Heroic's strategic developments with third parties. In his statement, he categorically denies it, saying he would never do anything to harm the team. Petersen also mentioned that he did share materials with colleagues from other teams, but it was only about the tactics of the opponents, not Heroic itself.
HUNDEN worked with Heroic for over a year as a coach as well as an analyst (during the period when he could not compete due to accusations of using «coaching bug»). Thanks in large part to his efforts, the Danish team has had some big wins, including first places at ESL One Cologne and DreamHack Open Fall in 2020.
