Heroic will hold IEM Cologne under quarantine

After one of the Danish Heroic players tested positive for a coronavirus, the entire team will have to play IEM Cologne under quarantine. The tournament organizers announced the news midweek, with all players undergoing standard testing after an initial three-day quarantine upon arrival in Cologne. Heroic representatives did not disclose exactly who was infected, noting that they expect the community to respect player privacy. At the same time, they reported that all players and team staff are feeling well and have no symptoms of illness, so Heroic decided not to interrupt participation in the tournament.

According to ESL's statement, the player in question did not have any contact with other teams. Thus, the rest of us will not be affected by the restrictions for the time being, and Heroic will participate in matches while in the hotel room, as per current security regulations. They will still use a LAN connection, which means that the difference in ping will not create an advantage for any of the participants.

Heroic – is not the only team that had to play matches from the hotel due to quarantine restrictions. In particular, the Spirit were forced to play two play-in stage matches while in self-imposed isolation due to their late arrival at the competition.
