The organizers of the April 2020 FLASHPOINT tournament are refusing to pay a hefty sum to the Counter Strike Professional Players Association (CSPPA) in violation of previous agreements. This is reported by the publication DBLTAP.
In March 2020, an agreement was made between B-site (organizers of the FLASHPOINT League) and the CSPAA whereby B-site was to pay $165,000 in return for the CSPAA facilitating the participation of its member players in the tournament and providing intellectual property rights.
However, correspondence between the parties has recently been released, from which it is clear that FLASHPOINT is accusing the Players Association of failing to fulfill prior commitments. In particular, they said, it was not effectively involved in the organization of the tournament, the consequence of which was lost profits. For example, CSPAA refused to sign documents required to obtain test monitors from a sponsor, which ultimately led to a breakdown in the arrangements with that sponsor. The Players Association was also supposed to be involved in the development of the rules and ranking system for the tournament, but this was also not done.
In turn, the CSPAA claims that it has fulfilled its obligations under the contract and B-site is simply delaying payment. It remains to be seen how this conflict will affect the future prospects of the tournament.
