In the Dream Hack Open North America Grand Finals held on July 3, Team Extra Salt defeated Brazil's O PLANO to win the tournament. She will receive a significant portion of the prize pool, as well as 100 points in the ESL Pro Tour rankings.
Right from the start Extra Salt were able to put a lot of pressure on their opponent, winning the first map (Vertigo) with a resounding score of 16 – 2, thanks in large part to the successful actions of John «oSee» Ohm and Justin «FaNg» Coakley. On the second map (Dust2), the balance of power remained about the same, and Extra Salt effortlessly prevailed with a score of 16 – 9. On Overpass, the Brazilians managed to build a defense and put up resistance, but they were not able to turn the game around: 16 – 12 in favor of Extra Salt.
The victory in this tournament gives Extra Salt the opportunity to participate in the IEM Fall North America play-in, where they will fight for the right to enter the main part of the competition with the winner of the North American stage of DreamHack Open September. At the same time, the team is unlikely to get a spot at ESL Pro League Season 14 thanks to their position in the rankings: Extra Salt are nearly 150 points behind BIG and Spirit, and it's unlikely they'll be able to close that gap in the coming months, as they won't be participating in IEM Cologne.
