On Thursday, the ESL released a statement announcing the creation of a group called the ESL Pro League Player Council, through which cybersports players will be able to learn more about the league's internal process and participate in decision-making. The «player council» will be made up of representatives from each of the 12 teams that signed the agreement, which was struck in early 2020 at the Louvre. The plan is for the group to meet at least four times a year. According to a statement released by ESL, players will be able to learn more about how Pro League decisions are made, ask questions and get advice on issues important to them.
The advisory group first met in late February, and Liquid coach Jason «moses» O’Toole has been appointed as its chairman for the immediate future. Each member will remain on the board for two years (or less, in case a player decides to leave their team). O’Toole noted that both players and tournament organizers understand how important well-functioning communication is. There have been several attempts to establish such deliberative bodies in the past and they have failed. Regardless of how successful this endeavor is, moses believes the community should continue to move forward with this endeavor. He hopes they will be able to improve the current conditions for Pro League participants.
