ESIC to toughen penalties for Streamsniping

The Ebersports Fair Play Commission (ESIC) has decided to implement a zero-tolerance policy for teams, coaches and players who have practiced Streamsniping. The problem has become particularly acute in recent months when most matches have been moved online. However, teams that have been caught with this offense in the past will not be penalized. ESIC officials reason that another mass ban would have too devastating an impact on the professional scene. While they believe the practice was widespread in online matches, in many cases the allegation could not be proven or such proof would require too many resources.

ESIC stated that it received a large number of allegations of stream-sniping during May and June. The essence of this violation is that someone involved could keep the match broadcast on and use information from it to gain an unfair playing advantage. ESIC believes that many teams, including top teams, have regularly used this method.

Thus, ESIC has decided to stop investigating past cases of this violation, but to severely penalize teams that allow it in the future. Recommendations were also adopted for tournament organizers to strengthen player control.
