Journalist and insider Jarek «Dekay» Lewis published an article on DBLTAP about the implications of the discovery «of the coaching bug». Over the past month, three coaches have already been suspended for using an exploit that allowed them to see a random location on the map and thus estimate the movements of the opposing team.
After the information about the bug was published, several more coaches were found to have used it or admitted to it themselves, and now their number reaches at least fifteen. The number is expected to at least double by the time the investigation is completed. Jarek Lewis believes that while some measures should certainly be taken, a long ban for so many coaches would be disastrous for the professional scene and lead to a severe drop in its level. According to the journalist, it is thanks to them that the strategy of competitive matches became subtle, complex and elaborate compared to the first years of the game's existence.
Valve, meanwhile, is inclined to suspend the offending coaches for a long time. Perhaps the decline of the professional scene doesn't seem to be Valve's problem, but you have to realize that it's the tactical difficulty that attracts many viewers. Jarek hopes that a middle ground can be found for coaches where they can influence the team, but without being able to directly intervene in the game.
