The CSPPA will examine factors affecting players' mental health

The CS:GO Professional Players Association (CSPPA) has partnered with two English universities to study the mental health of cyber athletes. The goal of the research project – is to identify the negative factors that affect players and understand how the situation can be improved. The CSPPA is committed to providing a supportive work environment that will help resolve issues that arise. The study will be led by researchers from the Universities of Chichester and Winchester.

Issues related to mental health have been a frequent topic of discussion in the professional cybersports scene recently. Recently, discussions on this topic have resumed with redoubled intensity after several players decided to temporarily stop performing after facing overexertion due to high workloads. Specifically, in March 2020, Alex «ALEX» McMeekin decided to take a break, citing a schedule that was too busy. In May, two Astralis players took time off at once due to stress and burnout. Olof «olofmeister» Kajbjer, who plays for FaZe, has also gone inactive to recuperate.
