CS GO has become the biggest cybersport discipline of 2020

According to data published by EsportsEarnings.com, Counter Strike: Global Offensive has become the largest cybersports discipline in terms of prize money awarded. The total amount that successful players could earn during the year is approaching $16 million dollars. The figure has increased significantly since last year, rising by 6.5 million. By comparison, the total prize money in second place Dota 2 is a third less than the leader – it is a little over 9 million. The next positions are occupied by League of Legends, Fortnite and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

CS: GO takes the first place in some other indicators, in particular, the total number of tournaments held and their participants. For 2020, more than 500 competitions of various levels were held, in which almost three thousand cyber athletes took part. These figures are particularly remarkable given that teams and organizers had to adapt to completely new conditions. Due to epidemic safety measures, some major tournaments have been canceled and others have been moved to LAN format. Nevertheless, CS:GO has remained the biggest cybersports discipline.
