BLAST, which is one of the largest organizers of cybersports tournaments in Europe, has completed its first round of investment, managing to raise €12.5 million. Investors included Johan Gedda (CEO and co-founder of Rocket Software) and Danish investment company Vaekstfonden. Venture capitalists Creandum, Heartcore and Maki have also invested in BLAST.
Gedda expressed his decision to invest in BLAST as follows: «The opportunity to create and discover technologies that will shape the future of cybersports – is one of the reasons why I am excited to partner with BLAST. I am impressed with their plans and look forward to applying my experience in technology to help grow this exciting, fast-growing business».
Erik Balk, one of Vaeksfonden's partners, also commented on their involvement: «We have watched BLAST take a leading position in eSports in Europe and beyond and are proud to support a European company as it moves into the next stage of its development».
Despite the situation with the coronavirus pandemic, BLAST has managed not only not to lose its position recently, but also to continue to grow by organizing CS:GO competitions in online format and attracting famous teams to participate.
