BLAST may allow player substitutions during card draws

The publication DBLTAP reported that BLAST, one of the largest organizers of tournaments, may expand teams' ability to replace players. In the past, teams participating in BLAST Premier could declare up to two members in addition to the main roster and make substitutions between matches. Under the new rules, it will be possible to do this even during the card draw, at the moment when the teams change sides. This way, players will have more flexibility to react to the situation and rearrange their tactics as needed. Previously, although substitutions between cards were allowed, players hardly ever used them. Perhaps the new rules will encourage them to more actively pursue this opportunity.

The rule changes will be especially favorable for the Astralis team. The Danes recently expanded their roster to seven with the signings of Jakob «JUGi» Hansen and Patrick «es3tag» Hansen. At the same time, es3tag will join the Astralis roster on July 1.

It is expected that the new rules will come into force at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown tournament. It starts May 31 and will be split into two divisions – European and North American.
