The Finnish ENCE team performed noticeably worse this year than in the previous year. While in 2019 she had been in the top 5 of the world rankings for months, by the end of 2020 she was outside the top 30 and had lost her last ten matches in a row. Leader
ENCE Alexi «allu» Jalli in his recent interview with HLTV talked about the difficulties the team is facing.
He believes that one of the reasons for the problems was the replacement that the team management made in August 2019, when Miikka «sunNy» Kemppi replaced Alexi «Aleksib» Virolainen. Allu characterizes the event as follows: «There was a feeling in the team that we needed some changes. But now, looking back from when Aleksib was removed from the lineup to now, we can say we removed the wrong player». Allu admitted that the team may have underestimated the contributions the cyber athlete made both during and outside of the game.
Another reason for the problems was the lack of practice time after sunNy joined the ENCE roster. The team's best result during this period was a second place finish at the CS:GO Asia Championship, but it experienced a slump at the beginning of 2020. Trying to utilize an expanded roster hasn't helped either, and two players have left the team in recent months. As a result, allu was the only one from the old ENCE squad to successfully compete in 2019.
At the same time, other former ENCE members note that allu can distort the situation and his statements about the situation in the team should not be fully trusted.
