British player Alex «ALEX» McMeekin has signed a three-year contract with Cloud9. He will serve as captain and game leader. In the interview he gave after signing the contract, the cyber athlete said that he sees his new role as a challenge and an opportunity to prove that he is capable of achieving the best results.
Commenting on the impact of the pandemic on his participation in competitions, he noted that new opportunities have opened up for him because of the change in competition format: «Now you don't have to spend energy on traveling. No need to fly to the US, experience jetlag, stay in hotels». At the same time, for him, as for most players, the stress level has increased because the match schedule has become more intense: «If you have to play an official match every two days, you are constantly tuned in to compete, and there is even more stress than before».
It is still unclear whether ALEX will move to the United States. It all depends on what the roster lineup ends up being and how the coronavirus situation develops. In any case, the health and psychological state of the players remains a top priority for the team. Alex also mentioned that he really appreciates the opportunity to work alongside Oleksandr «kassad» Trifunovich, who recently took over as Cloud9's head coach.
